Development Coordinator/Proposal Writer
JOB TYPE: Full Time (Work Remotely). Initial contract for 6 months with 3 months’ probation.
The Development Coordinator manages the relationship building and fundraising efforts of Salam Institute for Peace and Justice with donors. The coordinator is responsible for fundraising processes with account leads and managers and the development of high-quality proposals. The Coordinator conducts prospect research and carries out communication with key donors and within philanthropy and writes grant proposals.
Prepares and updates twice a month a list with all relevant information about donors & prospects within Account Leads portfolios.
Writes high quality proposals and assists with the development and finalization of high-quality concept papers. Identifies opportunities for specific donor stewardship and outreach around Salam Institute priority programs.
Produces regular appeal and stewardship mailings to donors in portfolio and appropriate prospects.
Conducts baseline research for new prospects as assigned to be used for donor strategy development by senior Development staff.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Flexibility in work schedule is available. The job may be performed remotely from home or any other preferred area. Attendance once a month for staff meeting will be required in NOVA area.
Occasional travel within Washington D.C is required to attend donor meetings and conferences to support fundraising efforts.
You will be required to use your own computer and printer.
A Bachelor’s degree required.
2-4 years of related work experience.
Preferred Experience in conducting research using online databases, internet resources and other references.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and basic computer operations.+
Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple processes at a given time.
- Must be organized with strong attention to detail, proofreading skills, and the ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to function well in a multicultural, diverse, and fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a geographically dispersed team and to communicate with staff at offsite locations. This includes comfort with communicating via Skype or Google Hangout, etc.
- A demonstrated passion for and interest in Conflict Resolution and Peace Building issues.
